Energy is about people. It’s the foundation of Energy Consumers of the Carolinas. Bea Wray, a South Carolina entrepreneur, parent, and big believer in the power of communities, is one of the people you will see a lot on our website from now on. A good, new voice.

Bea lives in South Carolina and has worn many hats: Business owner, home owner, company leader, nonprofit leader, supportive parent in the stands at a school stadium. Bea is a founder, mentor, investor, and board member for several companies.

Glad Bea is here! She brings a national reputation to her SC work. She was CEO of a $5M Silicon Valley technology company at 27. She launched several high-tech (and non) companies. She also took six years away from business, on an island, to be with her three (then) small children.

Bea served as the Executive Director of the entrepreneurial non-profit The Creative Coast and was the Chair of the ForbesBooks Entrepreneurship Practice Group. Bea is a Liberty Fellow and part of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. She holds an MBA with Distinction from Harvard Business School and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Emory University.

Bea told me, “When it comes to energy, I want to tap my business insights and skills with the tough lessons from motherhood to reveal important aspects of our energy environment that shape our homes and companies.”

As you may imagine, Bea has an intense interest in the people, issues, and the potential of what is around her, especially now in the energy space. As part of our team Bea will raise questions and look at energy issues; how it is sourced, priced, managed, and delivered.

Bea is one voice for Carolina energy consumers, a new and important voice. Bea will be discussing what is on her mind, and likely what is on your mind, too. We are together invested in the energy community in South and North Carolina. This will be a good journey!
